Fraudulent Charges Removed
A 97-year-old client contacted LSS after her wallet was stolen and her Target credit card was used to purchase approximately $1,000 in gift cards. Although the client promptly filed a police report, reported the fraud, and closed the account, she was told she would still be responsible for the charges.
LSS helped advocate on the client’s behalf by preparing a letter to Target, attaching the police report, and requesting that the unauthorized charges be removed.
As a result, Target agreed to credit the client the full $1,000, relieving her of the financial burden and stress caused by the fraud.
Outcome: $1,000 in fraudulent charges removed.

Protecting Housing Stability
A senior client with a Section 8 voucher came to LSS after receiving a 60-day notice to vacate. After reviewing the notice, LSS determined that it was improper and advocated directly with the property management company.
As a result, the client received the proper notice period and ultimately gained approximately four months to remain in her home instead of only 30 days. This additional time helped preserve her housing stability and gave her the opportunity to plan for next steps.
Outcome: Housing preserved with an estimated value of $18,000.

Restoring Peace of Mind
Ms. Marquez came to LSS after experiencing serious problems with a newly installed water filtration system. Soon after installation, she noticed black sediment in her Brita filter, kitchen sink, and toilet.
Despite contacting the plumbing company multiple times, the issue remained unresolved.
LSS stepped in to advocate on her behalf by sending a demand letter and helping prepare small claims forms. As a result, the financing company, GoodLeap, agreed to refund her loan in full.
Thanks to timely legal support, Ms. Marquez can now move forward with clean water, financial relief, and peace of mind.

Rita and Trini came to LSS after being misled by door-to-door solar representatives who promised lower electric bills with no upfront cost, no loan, and no payments.
After being guided through a digital contract on a smartphone, they later discovered they had been signed up for a loan they did not understand or agree to.
LSS reviewed the contract, explained their rights, and helped them challenge the deceptive sales tactics and improper financing.
Outcome: LSS helped two senior clients fight back against a deceptive solar contract and regain peace of mind.
