LSS Selected for Kaiser Permanente Medical-Legal Partnership
Legal Services for Seniors has been selected by Kaiser Permanente to participate in its Northern California Medical-Legal Partnership initiative.
Through grant funding from Kaiser Permanente, LSS will expand housing-related legal services for Monterey County seniors, with a focus on preventing eviction, addressing unsafe or unhealthy living conditions, and promoting long-term housing stability.
For many older adults living on fixed or limited incomes, housing instability can directly affect health and well-being. Rising rents, poor housing conditions, and the cost of maintaining a home can force seniors to choose between housing expenses and necessities such as medication, medical care, and nutritious food.
With Kaiser Permanente’s support, LSS will provide legal advice, advocacy, representation, and community education to help Monterey County seniors remain safely and stably housed.
LSS Selected for Monterey County Gives! 2026
LSS Receives 2026 Access to Justice Impact Award
On September 24, Legal Services for Seniors was honored by the California Access to Justice Commission with a 2026 Access to Justice Impact Award for Serving Underserved Communities.
The Commission recognized LSS for advancing access to justice for older adults in Monterey County and helping protect their homes, safety, financial security, and independence.
We are incredibly grateful for this recognition and proud to share it with the staff, volunteers, community partners, donors, and supporters who make our work possible.
Legal Services for Seniors is excited to announce that we have been selected to participate in Monterey County Gives! 2026.
Monterey County Gives! is an annual year-end giving campaign that highlights local nonprofit organizations making a difference throughout Monterey County.
This year, LSS will be featured through our “Every Senior Needs a Plan” initiative, which focuses on expanding estate planning services for low-income seniors, including greater access to simple trusts for qualifying homeowners.
The 2026 Monterey County Gives! campaign will run from November 12 through December 31. We look forward to sharing more about our Big Idea and how community support can help local seniors protect their homes, wishes, and futures.
